CAUTION: Weekend Lane Closures on Boundary Street

11 Jul CAUTION: Weekend Lane Closures on Boundary Street

Lane restriction on Boundary Street Friday night, all day Sunday for Beaufort-bound drivers

Boundary Street drivers headed toward Beaufort will see a short section of roadway reduced to one lane starting Friday at 9 p.m., July 14, and then again Sunday. All lanes are expected to be open Saturday after 7 a.m. at the start of Water Festival.

The lane restriction is needed to allow construction crews to drive piles for a new section of boardwalk along the Battery Creek marsh at Boundary Street, and for concrete curb work. The area affected is near Applebee’s and Carolina Cove.

While delays are expected to be minimal, drivers are encouraged to bypass the area by using Robert Smalls Parkway (SC170) and Parris Island Gateway. Roadwork on Sunday is scheduled only during daylight hours.

“We have tried our best to minimize construction impacts during Water Festival, but this is a ‘must do’ because of timing,” said Neal Pugliese, director of public projects for the City of Beaufort. “We ask everyone to be extra cautious and extra patient if they come through Boundary Street during this weekend.”

The work isn’t expected to affect westbound drivers on Boundary Street. Signs will provide motorists with information about alternate routes during the roadwork.
