16 May “Studying” under Hollings
As a junior in College I won a scholarship to work for the summer in a Congressional Office. I made one of the better decisions when I selected Senator Fritz Hollings. Over almost two decades I was in and out of Hollings’ office serving in many different slots from special assistant to legislative assistant to his re-election campaign manager to director of his campaign for the White House. Smart as a whip, excellent debater, humanitarian, environmentalist Hollings long career left a lot of marks on our state and country. I am most grateful for having the opportunity to work for the man writer Jack Bass writes about in the following piece from the Charleston Post and Courier.
