As we think about the future and the accelerated interest in Beaufort as a tourist and retirement destination, which I support, it makes sense to see what huge success is bringing Charleston. We have no challenge like they do today and I do not suggest we will, but I think we should be mindful of both the number of placement of hotels as we work to maintain balance and remain an authentic hometown.
Robert Airial is a fabulous and deservingly noted cartoonist. When he was in college he worked for me as the illustrator of a weekly newsletter I published about state government in Columbia many years ago.
