On June 27, City Council adopted the new Beaufort Code. This form-based development code and zoning map replaces the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) from 2003. Originally begun in collaboration with Beaufort County and the Town of Port Royal in 2012, the Beaufort Code coordinates language and concepts with the two neighboring jurisdictions. The code process took nearly three years and included over 80 public meetings and addressing more than 1,100 public comments. A complete version of the document, along with corresponding maps, can be found here.
