Out of all the ideas floating around about how to “deal with” historical monuments that represent only part of a long and complicated story, Charleston Mayor suggests we embrace rather than destroy, but in so doing engage the entire community in learning the larger story and amending monuments with interpretative plaques that tell it all. Sounds like a reasonable approach to me.
