At long last, after nine submissions to SC Department of Transportation, long awaited Allison Road improvements were approved.  The seemingly simple stormwater project topped off with connectivity between the Spanish Moss Trail and Beaufort Memorial Hosptial will soon be bid out to contractors.  Funded by a Federal Grant matched by dollars from the City’s Capital Improvement Budget, I am hoping the project will be underway soon.

Regrettably the long wait and changes required by SCDOT have likely driven up the initial costs so we are waiting engineers revised cost estimates, hoping that with small modifications, we can stay within the budgeted funding.  If not we will have to make cuts in the budget and in some way simplify what is another complicated and expensive road project.

However, I am optimistic we will see work beginning soon.
