24 Oct It’s not Pat Conroy’s writing desk…it’s a cake!
Hundreds of writers gathered over the weekend for the Pat Conroy Literary Festival, the first of what will become an annual event in Beaufort. The event featured three days of workshops, discussions, film, a play and lots of chatter by writers from as far as California.
Since former writing colleagues and friends were in town, the Pat Conroy Literary Center held a soft opening Friday evening as hundreds gathered on the porch and in the yard of the soon to be opened Center. Jonathan Haupt, the director of the USC Press will soon move to Beaufort to direct the Center. Retired USC Chancellor Jane Upshaw will chair the board of directors and advisory board.
Very exciting for our hometown.
